Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
Evolution of Aztec medallion backpack puppets for our performance of “Musicians of the Sun” at City Lit’s Art of Adaptation Festival. I didn’t get the opportunity to see these guys in action (was having a great time at I Got Brains! Fest) but I’m always so surprised at the versatility of cardboard and paint. All of the X-Acto knife hand cramps were totally worth it. Thanks for all your help, Emily!
Have been catching up on Breaking Bad while working on the face of an Aztec Moon God puppet for the art of adaptation festival next weekend. Little guy looks hungry.
Doing some heavy-duty research for an upcoming project and found this great TED Talk with the founders of the South African Handspring Puppet Company. War Horse was directed by one of my favorite artists, William Kentridge, whose spontaneous and richly dark animations have always been hugely inspiring to me. Anyway, the craftsmanship in this thing is astounding. Never be afraid to take on something big. Even if it is insanely last minute. #eek
